Readers' Reviews

Author's note:The e-mail below was sent to me by a friend in Houston who had recommended Corrigans' Pool to a relative of hers :(She ordered Corrigans' Pool from Barnes & Noble on Fairmont in Pasadena, Tx):

"Listen, I started reading that book you recommenced and I do not want to put it down.  It is going to be a best seller. I am trying to figure out a way to hang it around my neck so I can continue on. My husband briefed through it and said he wants to read it. He loves to read and really got into this book.  I told him he will just have to wait til I am through. While reading Corrigan's Pool, I wished I was on a island somewhere so nobody could interrupt my reading."

This book definitely ain't wimpy

May 29, 2009: My wife has this book and wanted me to read it. By the end of Part One you will know that this is not totally a romance novel. I started Parts Two and Three with a burst of enthusiasm that lasted all the way to the end. It's a great read. I won't forget many of the characters.

Great book!

May 22, 2009: Corrigans' Pool is one of the best books I have ever started reading. Kinda makes me mad when I have to stop and do my work. A movie should be made from this book. A relative recommended I buy it, and I ordered it from Barnes and Noble in Pasadena (Tx). Glad I did!

Corrigan's Pool is a must read for every adult

Posted May 11, 2009, 3:18 PM EST: I have read Corrigan's Pool several times and every time I read it I do not want to put it down. It is not only interesting to read about the  era of the book, it's also educational in many ways. I recommend this book to anyone, no matter what your reading interests are. This book should be a made for t.v. 3 day series. It could also be made a good movie. It's much like Gone with the Wind but, in my opinion, even better.

Amazing Novel

Posted August 27, 2009, 8:38 AM EST: Corrigans Pool is a great piece of civil war historical fiction with great character development and the potential to be a mini series on TV. Romance, war, slavery...all intertwined and truly educational as well as simply enjoyable reading. It is easy to read and great for discussion. I have ordered it for my book club as well.

A book of character, caring and crying as well as loving

Posted September 1, 2009, 8:49 PM EST: Loved the book...If you are looking for a love story with depth and substance you are in luck...like the "strong woman" characters -- I like being able to read a book I can leave around that I will be proud to say "yes, I am reading that book" ... but still love a love story with depth that came through in time...... I am so ready for book two, Miss Dot.
